The nearest airport is Poitiers 50kms away but Limoges and La Rochelle are only 80kms from the chateau. The local village Chef Boutonne (near enough to cycle in for morning croissants!) is just 2kms away, with two supermarkets, numerous patisseries, hotel le voyagers and a pizzeria. Chef Boutonne has halls dating back to the 1600s, a fishing lake, the ruins of an old castle and a fascinating Romanesque church.
There are daily local markets and a nearby riding stable (5kms), Lake Lambon is 20 mins away with swimming, fishing and windsurfing & golf courses at Poitiers & Niort.
During your stay you could visit Remy Martin or Hennessy (for cognac lovers!) or the Futurescope theme park for exciting rides to entertain the whole family. The Valley of monkeys is well worth a visit and take a trip to Green Venice in Maris Potovin, with its miles of waterways. There is a classic car racing event at Angloueme in September, or you can see the largest silver mine in Europe in Melle with its Romanesque churches.
